I have recently read two stories about toddlers being starved to death by their mothers. I cannot even comprehend the horror or how a mother could look at her child and not feed them.
Javon Thompson's mother was part of religous cult. They determined that he was a "demon" at 15 months old because he would not say amen after meals. So being good-hearted and in the spirit, they denied him food and water. When he died they did pray for his resurrection but eventually had to admit that he was decaying and put him in a suitcase which they would occassionally spray with disinfectant. The grandparents say that the mom isn't responsible because she was brainwashed and that the cult leaders were calling the shots. There are five people including the mom who have been charged in his death. Let's hope that justice is done unlike this next case.

In this case, a poor little baby, Nakeisha Walker, was born with neurological problems because of mom's drug use. The mother was investigated by CPS five different times but somehow this child was left in an obviously unsafe home. The little girl was starved to death and weighed on 14 pounds at age 2 at the time of her death. Oh and I mustn't forget that mom also got a life insurance policy on the little girl a week before her death. So with these facts in evidence, what do you think would be an appropriate punishment? Surely jail time! Surely, people go to jail for not paying tickets, for writing bad checks, starving your child - means PROBATION!

My heart breaks for these innocent lives lost.
