I have been reborn and I am now a strong warrior woman. These are my stories.

I have recently read two stories about toddlers being starved to death by their mothers.  I cannot even comprehend the horror or how a mother could look at her child and not feed them.

Javon Thompson's mother was part of religous cult.  They determined that he was a "demon" at 15 months old because he would not say amen after meals.  So being good-hearted and in the spirit, they denied him food and water.  When he died they did pray for his resurrection but eventually had to admit that he was decaying and put him in a suitcase which they would occassionally spray with disinfectant.  The grandparents say that the mom isn't responsible because she was brainwashed and that the cult leaders were calling the shots.  There are five people including the mom who have been charged in his death.  Let's hope that justice is done unlike this next case.

In this case, a poor little baby, Nakeisha Walker, was born with neurological problems because of mom's drug use.  The mother was investigated by CPS five different times but somehow this child was left in an obviously unsafe home.  The little girl was starved to death and weighed on 14 pounds at age 2 at the time of her death.  Oh and I mustn't forget that mom also got a life insurance policy on the little girl a week before her death.  So with these facts in evidence, what do you think would be an appropriate punishment?  Surely jail time!  Surely, people go to jail for not paying tickets, for writing bad checks, starving your child - means PROBATION!

My heart breaks for these innocent lives lost.

I recently read a story of a "feral" child found in Florida.

Little girl received the most basic of sustenance, enough to keep her alive, but nothing more. She could not speak or interact with another person. She was covered in scabs and roach bites. She was wearing a diaper and slept in a closet filled with dirty diapers.

I mean, it was just horrific.

Her mentally handicapped older brother had been left to care for her frequently while mom did as she pleased. The girl had no interaction or touch.

It was really sad. She was 7 when they found her and she is irreparably damaged.

I don't understand how someone can care so little for a child. They are small and helpless. If you can't manage to even feed or talk to your kid, why not give the child to someone who WILL love and care for him?

There are all sorts of resources out there, so no child should ever go hungry.

This whole religion excuse is such crap. Why would you starve a child? Sickening.

Sometimes the world is not a very nice place and the people that populate it are pretty damned stupid.

Be well.

Word: Welfare check.

Ugh. That makes me sick. It's hard to imagine that someone could be so lacking in humanity that a chunk of cash each month is worth ruining a child's life over.

I hope not but I suppose that might be the case sometimes.

agreed

I don't understand it either.  Some people just seem to have the ability to not see their humanity.  What is really sad is that people seem to have more sympathy for mistreated pets.

Such a shame. The only people worse or at least just as bad as these people who harmed these children are those who know what's going on but don't do anything about it. Some would rather not get involved for fear of getting in trouble for not saying anything. So sad.

While she never mistreated her kids, my aunt did love getting Govt money for them. Especially from her handi-capped son. They always had what they needed, or at least enough, but then she never really did get a chance to educate herself to be able to find better jobs having 7 kids, never getting passed 5th grade and living in Puerto Rico. But she could always find jobs at bars. I just never wondered if she had a sexual life during those times, she just didn't seem the type, at least not to me, even today. She did get married 3 times, which is where her 7 kids came from. But I do wonder though. Oh well.
